Nura Gili is the Indigenous Programs Unit at UNSW Australia. Its core business is to: 1) provide support services for Indigenous students; 2) deliver Indigenous studies teaching programs; and 3) conduct research within the field of Indigenous studies. With more than 25 staff and over 1000 students, Nura Gili has a goal of becoming the leading Indigenous Unit within the higher education sector in Australia.
About the role
- $30.22 per hour
Nura Gili is seeking motivated Indigenous students to be our unit’s student ambassadors. This position works closely with the Student Support team and assists in the delivery of accurate information on programs offered at UNSW, admission requirements, student support services and university life to prospective Indigenous students.
Ambassadors are often the first contact that prospective Indigenous students have with UNSW at careers markets, high schools visits, community events/activities or when visiting the Kensington campus. These visits are conducted on a regular basis throughout the year.
Ambassadors are required to participate in the major promotional events held by UNSW, such as Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Info Day (August), UNSW Open Day (September) and UNSW Info Day (January).
To be eligible for this position you must be a current UNSW Indigenous student in at least your second year of an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate student. The position requires you to work efficiently and effectively in a positive team environment with flexibility to respond to competing demands.
Ambassadors are required to show commitment by attending:
• Approximately 1-5 career markets (day or evening markets)
• UNSW Open Day and Info Day
• Rural events
• 3-4 student presentations (Yr 7-12)

Please note interviews for this position will be conducted on the following dates: 22nd – 24th October and 27th – 29th October.
Successful applicants will be required to attend compulsory training on either the 25th February 2016 (during O-week) or 3rd March 2016 (during Week 1, Semester 1).
